The Seven Sisters Quilt
The Seven Sisters Quilt

Seven Sisters offers a unique blend of classic gifts, home accessories and quilts. Because we love quilts and quilting, we took our name from the quilt pattern our mother always made. Seven stars form the block called Seven Sisters. Legend has it the pattern is named for a cluster of seven stars in the constellation Taurus, also called Seven Sisters.

The Seven Sisters pattern works well for a baby quilt.  I made four blocks using slightly softer colors and added sashing in tiny pink & white check.  A border of tiny blue & white checks completed the quilt for my first grandchild.

The International Quilt Study Center in Lincoln Nebraska has a gorgeous Seven Sisters quilt from 1850-1870 possibly made in Indiana.  It is done in all red and white.  Click here to see a photo.  I am starting to assemble a photo gallery of Seven Sisters quilts.  If you have one I would love to see a picture!
